Pre-Confirmation Program
(Grades 7 & 8)
(Grades 7 & 8)
The Pre-Confirmation program here at St. Philip’s traditionally takes place during the seventh and eighth grade years. We say "traditionally" because anyone who is seeking to be Confirmed at Saint Philip's who are under the age of 18 are required to complete Pre-Confirmation.
This program is completely different than anything the kids will have experienced to this point in their religious studies. This program not only continues to lead our kids deeper into the study of Sacred Scripture, prayer, Church doctrine, social justice, the Sacraments and Church; but it also forces the students to wrestle with their own faith so that they are able "to give a reason for their hope" (1 Peter 3:15). This in turn leads them to a more profound understanding of who God is and a deeper personal relationship with Him as well.
Our program also understands that adolescents have a wealth of energy, enthusiasm, compassion, and resourcefulness. Helping them to find practical and immediate ways to share these gifts through Christian service is an essential aspect of their formation in faith. In the process they will find that they receive far more than they give. It is a humbling and joyful discovery, one that leads to a larger realization about the unfolding mystery of God’s Kingdom.
