Children's Liturgy of the Word

The purpose of the Children’s Liturgy of the Word is to enrich our children’s liturgical experience of God’s presence in the ritual proclamation of the Word.

  • It emphasizes liturgical in contrast to catechetical or “church school” experience
  • The children are actually attending Mass: they are experiencing the Liturgy of the Word in terms and experiences that are understandable to them
  • At the Liturgy of the Eucharist they return to their families
  • They hear the same readings proclaimed at Mass as their families, but written in a style for them to better understand

Liturgy of the Word is offered on Sunday morning’s at the 9:30 a.m. Mass

Those who would like to volunteer to help at the Children’s Liturgy of the Word should contact the Office of Religious Education at 401-949-0330

Concerning our faith: God commanded us to teach it to our children; that the next generation might know it, that they may rise up and teach their children, so that they should set their hope in God, and not forget His works.    Ps. 78: 5 – 7
